Fantasy Birding

2020 YARD SQUAD CHALLENGE

Rules

Each participant picks either their yard, or a patch within walking distance, to bird regularly between April 4 and the end of May. Volunteer captains draft players to create squads with as much geographical coverage as possible. One point is awarded for each unique species on a squad's list, and one bonus point is awarded for each 'life bird' - a species that is new to a participant's all-time yard/patch list. Observations are submitted to eBird and shared with dedicated squad accounts. The competition is divided into four two-week stretches, with a winner awarded for each stretch in addition to an overall champion.
